Rwanda Stock Exchange bourse closes at low, week performs better

This week the Rwanda Stock Exchange (RSE) market activity was higher compared to the previous week’s trading session. The total turnover for this week was Rwf 275,532,700 from 378,800 Bank of Kigali (BoK) shares and 217,600 for Rwanda’s only Brewery and Lemonade (Bralirwa) shares traded in 30 deals compared to the last week’s trading session which recorded a total turnover of Rwf 252,070,600 from 162,300 BoK shares and 253,800 Bralirwa shares traded in 26 deals.

However, today, the RSE share index (RSI) went down 0.40 points to close at 233.94 and mainly caused by the falling Bralirwa share price which closed at Rwf 840. BoK shares traded between Rwf 240-245 and closed at Rwf 245, unchanged from yesterday’s closing price whereas Bralirwa counter traded between Rwf 830-840 and closed at Rwf 840, translating into a decline of Rwf 2 compared to yesterday’s closing price.

The market recorded 124,900 BoK shares and 43,200 Bralirwa shares valued at Rwf 66,243,900 in eight deals compared to the previous trading session which recorded a total turnover of Rwf 245,000 from 1,000 BoK shares traded in one deal.

KCB shares last transacted at Rwf 185 while NMG and Uchumi Supermarket shares last transacted at Rwf 1,200 and Rwf 175 respectively. At the end of formal trading hours, there were outstanding offers of 210,700 BoK shares between Rwf 249-250 and outstanding bids of 6,845,300 shares between Rwf 230-244.

On Bralirwa counter, there were outstanding offers of 45,100 shares between Rwf 840-890 and no outstanding bids. On KCB counter; there were outstanding bids of 12,400 shares between Rwf 175-180 and no outstanding offers.

On NMG counter; there was an outstanding bid of 1,000 shares at Rwf1, 200 and no outstanding offers. On USL counter; there was an outstanding offer of 1,000 shares at Rwf 175 and an outstanding bid of 500 shares at Rwf 160.
