After several months and days of DRC forces provocative bomb shelling and attacks on Rwanda’s sovereign ground the Government of Rwanda has finally taken the appropriate move by deploying heavy arms along its borders.
This move comes a few days after Rwandan official were fixed in a juxtaposition to either respond by retaliating to over 34 bomb attacks that have been shelled on Rwandan soil since November 2012 or address the issue the gentleman’s way.
In a press statement released on August 29, it seems like Rwandan officials finally got tired of being patient with Congolese arrogance and lack of respect for the innocent civilians who have fallen victim of the attacks-manned by the Congolese army (FADRC) and suspected genocide fugitives grouped under FDLR.
In that release it stated that the government of Rwanda has urged the Government of DRC to stop attacks on its territory but in vain and noted that international community has neglected the situation and kept a blind eye.
Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Government Spokesperson said, “We have remained restrained for as long as we can but this provocation can no longer be tolerated.”
She said that DRC forces are deliberately targeting Rwandan civilians adding that Rwanda has repeatedly urged the Government of DRC to stop attacks on its territory but instead violations have increased in frequency and intensity.
The minister said in a statement, “We have the capacity to determine who fired at us and will not hesitate to defend our territory. Rwanda has a responsibility to protect its population.”
